GANNAWARRA Deception: IN January the victim received a text from someone purporting to be her son, advising that they had lost their phone and requesting money. It was only after the transfer was made that the victim realised that they had been scammed. There has been some reporting around the “Hi Mum” scam. Police advice to speak to the person requesting funds before transferring any.
