
A PUBLIC inquiry will be held next month to seek ratepayers’ views on the proposed amalgamation of the Murray and Wakool shires.
New South Wales Government-appointed delegate, Cheryl Thomas will spend the coming months examining the proposed merger between the two municipalities.
As part of the process, two public sessions will be held on Tuesday, February 9 where residents can have their say on the merger.
Those wishing to speak at the enquiries – occurring from 9am to 11am at the Barham Golf Club and from 2pm to 4pm at Moama’s Morning Glory Conference Centre – need to register by 12 noon on Friday, February 5.
Speakers may only speak once at the enquiry, and the order of speakers will be determined by Ms Thomas.
Those wishing to attend the sessions need to register by phoning 1300 813 020.
Residents can also provide feedback via written submissions, which can be accepted up to Sunday, February 28.
All feedback will assist Ms Thomas develop a report into the merger proposal, which will be provided to the New South Wales Boundaries Commission for comment only, and the Minister for Local Government.
