Across the Greens

Cohuna

LAST Tuesday’s social bowls was won by the team comprising Ken S, Mary and Marian.

They won on a countback from Ian Howard’s team who had also won two games.

It was a perfect day for bowls as the greens were fast and the sun was shining.

Of the 28 players, many were visitors which is great to see.

I’m sure accuracy is improving thanks to Ken’s initiative.

The raffles were well supported with a really good supply of donated goods and produce on the table.

Names are coming in for the annual opening day on September 17.

This promises to be a fun day followed by a sausage sizzle and a bit of socialising. Entries can be single or in teams so be quick to secure a spot.

Quite a few more turned up this week for Friday’s drinks, tea and carpet bowls, which is great considering the inclement weather.

The “mystery selectors” had a tough job sorting the teams but the general consensus was that they did a passable job.

Winners on the night were Brian B, Jan and Dean.

The caterers, as usual, came up with a beautiful meal and thanks go to Kaye and Marilyn, and Keith and his helpers at the barbecue.

What great club people these members are.

It was nice to see visitors in the winners’ circle on Saturday with Bob, Ann, Jules and Noelene being the successful team.

Sixteen players enjoyed the day and the jackpot is still growing.

Kerang

BLACK duck jackpot two-bowl triples was played on August 15.

Twenty-four bowlers played in good conditions.

Two-game winners were T. Pocock, R. McBain and W. Neville on +14.

Second game winners were S. Pascoe, R. McKerrow and M. Tilley on +4.

Jackpot number this week was +1 and was not claimed. Next week the jackpot goes back to $168.

To play black duck, call the club on 5452 1194 by 11am for a 12.30pm start or, preferably, have your name down on the list on the notice board by the day before.

No uniform is required and members of the public who would like to join the club are welcome.

The same applies to Saturday social bowls, everyone is welcome at 1pm.
