LADIES golf on Wednesday was a Stableford round played in perfect golfing conditions.

It was good to welcome back Rhonda Willoughby and Meagan Taylor.

Geraldine Kennedy played a great round with 36 points, to win the day. Meryl Cameron and Michelle were in the ball pool with 34 points. Rosie Laughlin also made the ball pool with 30 points. Meryl Cameron had a terrific drive on the 9th to be nearest the pin.

All are welcome to play on a Wednesday.

We have our Gold Watch tournament this week on Friday, so get your entries in. It is a 9.30am assembly for a 10am hit off.

At Thursday’ R&R Stableford, 25 members entered the competition, on a very good day for golf.

The winner was Allan Free with 39 points. In the ball pool were K Chase 37, C Waterson and P Lloyd 35, and W O’Neill 33 countback.

NTPs went to A Free on the 3rd and 9th, K Lane 5th, P Lloyd 13th and T Laughlin 16th.

For Saturday’s Stableford , it was another mild day and six players went out in the morning, leaving 18 to play in the afternoon.

The winner being a morning player, Kevin Chase, with 38 points. Ball pool went to R Schultze 37, A Free 37, K McKerrow, T Turvey and J Murphy all on 35. The pen award went to captain Jack.

NTPs went to T Turvey 3rd, K Lane 5th and superpin, M Dillon 9th and 16th went begging again.


Northern District Veterans

LAST Tuesday was the 2023 NDVGA Grass Greens Championship.

The weather was just right for golf at the Barham Golf Club and 13 ladies contended for the title of champion, but there can only be one, and that was Michelle Dillon with a winning stroke score of 90.

The net winner was Jean Youl with 102-26=76 on a countback from Shirley Jenner, also 102-26=76.

Ball pool went to L Hyne with 90 and R McAlister 101.

In the men’s section Ian Dodd was the champion with a stroke score of 85.

The net winner was Kevin Chase 99-29=70. Ball pool went to Graham Wyte and Graeme Brierley on 87, Jack Hewitt 88 and John Brunt 89.

NTPs: Ladies 3rd and 18th M Learmonth, 10th M Dillon and 15th L Hyne. Men 3rd and 15th I Dodd, 10th G Brierley and 18th T Turvey.

The next event is at Kerang on Tuesday, June 20.
